Icy Roadway Results in $850,000 Settlement at Mediation

At this time of the year, it's important for all of us to watch ourselves when walking outside in view of the icy and slippery conditions. It is equally important that landowners, or those responsible to maintain their property, perform their obligations to ensure that the property is in a reasonably safe condition. As discussed below, the law requiring a party to maintain property in a reasonably safe condition applies to homeowners associations in condominium developments.

Surveillance and Personal Injury Lawsuits

COURT FINDS BP SPILLED 3.2 MILLION BARRELS OF OIL INTO THE GULF

On January 15, 2015, a federal court reached a decision in the BP Oil Spill case assessing the amount of oil that was spilled into the Gulf of Mexico. Judge Carl J. Barbier of the Federal District Court in New Orleans issued a ruling finding that BP 3.19 million barrels of oil were spilled following the April 20, 2010 oil rig fire and explosion that killed 11 people and spewed oil into the Gulf of Mexico for 87 consecutive days.
