This morning, at approximately 9 a.m., an Amtrak train derailed at Penn Station in New York City. The Amtrak Acela Express 2151 had been bound for Washington D.C., when it derailed and hit a New Jersey Transit passenger train. The impact caused a window on the train to blow out and significant damage to the cars of the trains.

As a result of the derailment and collision, several people suffered minor injuries. It is unclear at this time what caused the train to go off of the tracks. This accident comes after a string of recent railway accidents, including the Hoboken NJ Transit derailment.
