In mid-September, a 46-year-old construction worker was fatally crushed to death in a construction accident while working at a site on Java Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The construction project, by Lendlease Construction, involved the construction of a new, 14-story building along the Brooklyn waterfront.

It appears that the victim was trying to secure the pipes to the excavator when the extension arm of the excavator weighing over 2,000 pounds collapsed and fell onto him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
