Long Island Leading New York State in Drinking and Driving Deaths

According to theĀ Robert Wood John Foundation’s 2015 County Health Rankings, Long Island has the dubious distinction of leading New York State in drunk driving related fatalities. From 2009-2013, there were 273 alcohol-impaired driving deaths in Nassau County (109) and Suffolk County (164), more than three times the next closest county in New York.

Staten IslandĀ led the five boroughs with 24 percent of all driving deaths being caused by drinking and driving during the 2009-2013 time period.
